i don't want to know why the caged bird sings (long band names are +1 emo points) is a band from england. they play 90's style screamo: violent, sensitive, and fragile.
the hope and the failure was (is? they got back together, if youtube comments have any truth to them) a female fronted post-rock influenced screamo band from sweden. i particularly like punk / hardcore bands w female vocalists, and thatf is one of the best ones. check this out.
hiretsukan (from the japanese 卑劣漢 meaning 'vicious man' or 'despicable person') was a female fronted screamo band formed in washion d.c. and based in new york city.
this is one of the best records in the genre.
an embrace of angels was a screamo band from minnesota active in the early 2000s. they had the melodic v. heavy contrast down pat. this has a lot of piano in it too, which is really good.
sometimes when i order records from certain labels i get extra stuff throw in for free. i ordered a package from off cloud nine and received this tape. having had no previous knowledge of this band at all, i was pleasantly surprised by this. science is made up of mistakes is a screamo band from spain playing 90s inspired screamo. iwrotehaikusaboutcannibalimsinyouryearbook is one of my favorite bands ever and this release really reminded me of their style. highly recommended.
let me preface this by saying that this is primarily going to be a screamo blog focusing on the more obscure side of the genre, but more than likely i'm going to wander into other genres i enjoy (emo, hardcore, black metal, death metal, grindcore, etc, etc). if you have an interest in any of the previously mentioned genres you'll probably enjoy the majority of the music i'm going to post on here. i had a music blog years and years ago and every single one of my links got broken. that being said, c'est la guerre ('this is war') was a screamo band from rhode island. they released these 5 tracks then changed their name to remainder, their bandcamp page says their last release was in april of 2016. this is the only release under the original name, and it's a great one. it's 9 minutes long and shows a lot more heart and emotion than some full length records. if you are a fan of the spirit of versailles, and the more melodic side of screamo, give this a listen.
