iwrotehaikusaboutcannibalisminyouryearbook / 8 song demo (2006)

iwrotehaikusaboutcannibalisminyouryearbook was a short lived screamo band from california.
this is probably the first screamo band that i fell in love with: heartfelt, incredibly passionate, (oddly) catchy. the vocals are thrown and fall like broken bottles. all of their songs were untitled (ex. untitled 1, untitled 2, untitled 3, et al) and their discography comprised of demo and an unreleased 5 track demo was released in 2010 on discos huelga, further adding to the confusion that untitled 1 (for example) on the demo would not be untitled 1 on the discography. i was one of the few lucky people to own a first pressing of this record on clear vinyl, and it's probably my most prized record. one of my ex girlfriends was trying to get me to sell it to her recently.
me: 'no. . .but you can come over and listen to it if you want?'
members of this band went on to play in beau navire, punch, ...who calls so loud, and others, but this band will always have a place in my heart.

screamo from texas. dark, atmospheric, intense, and chaotic.

c'est la guerre / demo (2009)

let me preface this by saying that this is primarily going to be a screamo blog focusing on the more obscure side of the genre, but more than likely i'm going to wander into other genres i enjoy (emo, hardcore, black metal, death metal, grindcore, etc, etc). if you have an interest in any of the previously mentioned genres you'll probably enjoy the majority of the music i'm going to post on here. i had a music blog years and years ago and every single one of my links got broken.

that being said, c'est la guerre ('this is war') was a screamo band from rhode island. they released these 5 tracks then changed their name to remainder, their bandcamp page says their last release was in april of 2016. this is the only release under the original name, and it's a great one. it's 9 minutes long and shows a lot more heart and emotion than some full length records. if you are a fan of the spirit of versailles, and the more melodic side of screamo, give this a listen.
